I feel like adding a new diary entry right now, but I somehow doubt I have much to write. I haven't been doing anything particularly exciting recently, just going along through my daily life. It's nice, though. So I feel like writing for a few moments. It's hard to believe I've been here for ten months now, and will be leaving in another two months. I am glad to be going home, but there are so many things I'll miss about Japan. But I don't really have that much time to dwell on my feelings, because life is keeping me pretty busy. I've been learning to cook some Japanese meals from a nice lady I give English lessons to. I love learning a new skill. I've learned okonomiyaki and chirashi-zushi so far. I've also been busy packing up some of my stuff in boxes, and preparing to ship them home. It seems early for that, but I don't want to rush around in a panic at the last minute. In addition to that, I have been planning for my friend Michiru to come visit in a few weeks. I am so excited that she's coming over here! I get bored sometimes, living all by myself, so it'll be really fun to have her around. We'll go to Tokyo, and do some traveling around this area as well. Yay! Tomorrow, I am going out for pizza and ice cream with some other AETs. I am so looking forward to it! It seems like such a simple thing, but still... fun! Some of the AETs who are coming are from out of town, so I rarely see them... so this will be a treat! I can allow myself to eat some junk food for one evening. Summer is coming soon... the weather is beautiful and sunny today, and they are serving iced tea instead of hot tea in restaurants. There are ice cream and shaved ice signs up in all the stores, and the leaves on the trees have turned a rich green. Ube is beginning to look the way it did when I first arrived. When I start hearing the buzz of cicadas, I'll really feel that the year has completed its cycle. |
