This will probably be my last journal entry for a while... in a few days, I am flying up to Tokyo to meet my parents for a vacation! I am so excited...they will be here for two and a half weeks. We are planning on spending a few days in Tokyo, a few days in Kyoto, and a few days in various other places. This will be their first time in Japan, and my first time to have a leisurely vacation here, so I am really looking forward to it. I am hoping for two things: good weather and good health. I caught a cold earlier this week, and am having a really hard time beating it! I can't believe the bad timing on this... but hopefully with lots of vitamins and rest, I will recover in time to explore Japan! I was watching this really funny TV program this evening, in which this guy wearing a traditional Japanese loincloth visited some random middle school and consulted students on their wories and problems... inside a classroom broom closet. Stuffed inside this little tiny space, amongst cleaning supplies, he gave love advice, etc. Yep, that's Japanese TV for ya! It's so odd. I used to despise it because I couldn't understand very much, and it just seemed so pointless, but after eight months in this country, I can say that I have really come to enjoy all these wacky shows. My favourite series has a segment where two guys run around looking for girls with platform shoes. They grab the girls, and then saw off the platforms. It's hilarious! They compensate the girls with cute non-platform shoes, so no harm done... I love it. I think I am actually going to miss Japanese TV when I go home. Scary! |
