Getting warm: 3-3-00

Amazingly enough, it seems that the news report was right... Japan is having an early spring! The weather promptly turned from cold to merely cool on March 1st, and today it was even better- the temperature was approaching warm during mid-day! Suddenly, I am no longer bundled up in a hat, muffler, mittens, sweater, and jacket... I was able to leave behind everything but the jacket today. I could bike around happily without a cold wind making my eyes water. What a liberating feeling! It's incredible how quickly the weather changes here. I hope the comfortable temperatures last for a while. *knocks on wood*

Ahhh, I am tired tonight... it was a long week, what with three elementary school visits. The junior highs had tests, so all my classes were cancelled... which is why my supervisor signed me up for elementary school classes. 'Cause I had nothing else to do! It was fun, but I feel more comfortable with junior high, so I am looking forward to going back to my regular schools.

Today, I had my last ikebana class for a while. There is a break till May, which is good, because although I really enjoy the class, it being on a Friday is often inconvenient for my weekend plans, especially if I want to go out of town. So it'll be nice to have a break from it for a while. Today's lesson was nice- apparently I must have done a good job with the arrangement, because I got more praise than usual. Not that I actually knew what I was doing, or anything! It must have been purely by chance that the flowers ended up in the right places. Or maybe I am improving, who knows? It would be nice to think that the lessons aren't going to waste, in any case... hehheh.

Interestingly, my ikebana teacher told me that his grandchild was in one of the classes I taught recently... whoah, coincidence! I hope it was a fun class! I see so many classes, I wouldn't really remember whether it went well or not. Eh heh heh. Actually, another one of the students, a nice middle-aged lady, said that her child was also in one of my classes. Yikes... I guess everyone is connected in this city! You never know whose kid you might be teaching, so it really keeps you on your toes!

Anyway, that's it for today... I am looking forward to flopping into bed and sleeping in tomorrow morning! After all, it's the simple things in life that bring the most pleasure, no matter where in the world you may be.
